GREEN EARTH THEATER TV

Greetings:

My name is Diane Cameron; I am a Musical Performing Artist & Playwright. As the Director of Green Earth Theater, my goal is to create theatrical productions that address the need for eco friendly performing art works. Green Earth Theatre can be categorized by many names, ecological theatre or eco-theatre, sustainable theatre, environmental theatre or even recycled theatre. Each term can refer to either the practice of producing plays that educate and promote ecology, or it can refer to sustainable and ecological practices that go into the making, of any production. When I began this project, my hope was that the arts and the ecology would forge a partnership to educate and inspire personal responsibility to develop green consciousness. As anyone who has opted for sustainability in theater can attest—there are a few hurdles. One of the difficulties is that many of the common practices for being ‘green’ still come at a price for the environment. What I would like achieve on this site is how to make theatre that is good for the environment--or sustainable theater is educationally entertaining and informative at the same time. The current collection represents an ongoing series of cultural offerings I hope will be a successful brand of Theater Edutainment. Furthermore, that it will serve to be a resource center for schools, churches, community centers, youth organization and other ecos friendly organization looking for a creative way to promote green living, a healthier environment and enlightment theater for this generation of earth minded citizens. The video promos are to acquaint the viewer with the concept or the idea of the theme of the play. However, each play has an individual script that can be performed using actors of all ages. We have been very successful with a youth cast. The Green Earth Theater Ensemble consists of musicians, actors, graphic artist, videographers, recording engineers and stage crew. We are available to present each play at your designated venue using local actors. This is perfect for Arbor Day, Earth Day or any Keep Cities Beautiful celebration. For the budget minded organizations (all of us these days), I will come to your location to direct and produce any of the Green Earth Theater Productions using all local personnel in your location. The last option is great for churches, youth groups, boys and girls clubs, parks and recreation community centers, schools and more.

TRASH TAWKIN
Imagine being tossed aside and considered useless. Imagine having so much more to give. Imagine your dreams of being "born again" become reality. This whimsical musical play addresses the realism of recycling thru the eyes of the "trash". They talk; they sing and dance the message of the need to recycle from an interpersonal and emotional perspective. An excerpt from the script is available at

WATER WATER EVERY_WHERE
A musical pictorial of the quest for water sustainability and conservation written in a "Westside story" format. The pollutants and the consumers of water square off in a "rumble".

THE TRIAL OF AUGUST THE OAK TREE
August is a 100 year old Oak tree in the forests of Oklahoma. He was planted by a young Native American girl named Asinka the daughter of an Osage Chief. She planted the tree during the eighth month of the year and named him August. Asinka was very dedicated to August and communed with him during every crisis and trial in her upbringing years. When Asinka was 21, she received the first crops of acorns from August. For the sentimental value of the nuts, she kept them and gave them to her first grandson Shakuru. As August grows, he becomes very protective of all the animals in the forest and takes on a paternal role. When Asinka died, her grandson placed the acorns in her burial place. The conflict occurs as developers begin to clear away forest land for development. The "city planning board" approved future development which would call for the removal of August who is considered by the board to be old and useless. Shakuru, the grandson of Asinka who is now a grandfather calls a forest counsel to discuss the situation. The forest council decides to take the city planners to trial. Ten witnesses (forest animals) testify on August' behalf, and finally August takes the stand and delivers a POWERFUL & RIVETING testimony on his own behalf indicting those who seek to tamper with nature for material gain and greed.
